Title Valet Safety Razor

Description Silver colored safety razor with open comb design. Cross hatch pattern on handle. "Valet" is stamped on the cover. Blade holder engraved with "Autostop safety razor Co, Inc. New York, U.S.A." Back of razor head engraved with three different patent numbers, latest of which is from 1927. Some teeth from the comb are missing.

Maker Auto-Strop Safety Razor Co.

Maker Details Prior to 1930 there was another company that produced the Valet razor called the Auto Strop Safety Razor Company and run by Henry Gaisman. Henry’s first patent a “safety razor” in 1904. Henry ran Gillette after King Gillette died in 1932.

Notes Tarnish and green encrustation on parts of razor. Discoloration on areas where blade would have rested. Teeth are missing from comb. Comb itself is broken and loose on one side. All parts still move easily.
