Description White cardboard box that would originally have held a straight razor. Very faded green lettering says "John Pritzlaff Hdwe Co. Milwaukee, Wis." Lid says "Cactus Reg. T.M. 147027 Made in Germany". Interior of box is orange.

Maker John Pritzlaff Hardware Co.

Maker Details John Pritzlaff Hardware Company, founded by John C. Pritzlaff in 1850 was the largest hardware company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and eventually became one of the largest wholesale hardware companies and iron supply houses in the Northwest. It was known for selling hardware, sewing machines, and toys through mail order catalogs to wholesale accounts throughout the United States. After Pritzlaff died, his son, Fred C. Pritzlaff took over until his death in 1951. When Fred died, his son took over the firm until it closed in 1958

Notes Box is very dirty and stained. Letters are very faded and almost unreadable. Significant edgewear and corner wear on both box and lid. Box edge begining to come unsealed on lid.
