Description / Abstract The fictional memoir of Black Beauty, an English horse during the 19th century.

Physical Description A cream and grey fine crosshatching with images of literary figures in connecting laurels on the spine and front and back cover. Figures include the Queen of Hearts and Alice from "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland," Pinnochio, Black Beauty, and Huck Finn to name just a few. The center of the cover has "Companion Library" surrounding the image of a thistle. The spine lists the title, the author, and publishing house.

Author Anna Sewell (1820-1878)

Author Details Sewell was an author of children's literature, like her mother Mary Wright Sewell. An invalid most of her life, Sewell wrote this novel from 1871-1877 while bed ridden.
