Title Watkins Menthol Camphor Ointment

Description A milk glass jar with a metal screw-topped lid which once held menthol camphor ointment. The glass is white and on the bottom "11 HH" is embossed. The label is green and cream with an image of J.R. Watkins and his signature below it, as well as the claims, weights, and manufacturer information. One side lists the directions and the other side lists its claims. The lid is metal with Watkins embossed on top.

Maker The J.R. Watkins Company

Maker Details The company was started in Plainview, Minnesota in 1868. Watkins introduced the "money back garuntee" with the use of his "trial marked" bottles. They expanded to nearby Winona, MN in 1885 and continued to grow across the U.S. The company produces many wellness and personal car items. It is still thriving and is known as Watkins Inc. today.

Notes The milk glass has a few scratches on the bottom and one long scratch on the side without the label. The label has water damage and is discolored. There is some mold growth around its edges and part of the label is peeling. The lid is dented on the edges and has some discoloration in its grooves. The inside of the lid has some cardboard with slight discoloration and molding. The inside has some of the ointment, and some molding in the grooves.
