Title Ovaltine shaker

Description Aluminium shaker and lid for Ovaltine. A: Canister is unpainted. Has decorative scoring in the metal along the top and bottom edges. Indentation along top edge to secure lid. B: On top of lid is text "Ovaltine" embossed and painted orange. About middle of side is decorative scoring. Slight lip at bottom to secure to canister. Unpainted.

Maker Ovaltine

Maker Details By 1915 Ovaltine was being manufactured in Villa Park, Illinois,The US children's radio series Little Orphan Annie (19311940) and Captain Midnight (19381949), and the subsequent Captain Midnight TV series (19541956), were sponsored by Ovaltine. They had promotions in which listeners could save proofs-of-purchase from Ovaltine jars to obtain radio premiums, like "secret decoder ring" badges or pins that could be used to decode messages in the program.

Notes A: Metal has surface scratches on interior and exterior. Dark staining on exterior, brown in color, stuck in crevices. Spotting from liquid on exterior. Wear along top edge from lid. On interior, at bottom dark accretion in corners between bottom and sides. Small dents on sides and bottom. B: Lid is worn with scratches on interior and exterior. Brown staining on sides. Brown spots at left. Dents in top side. Paint in underline of Ovaltine is scratched off. On interior wear around edge from canister.
