Title Edison Home Phonograph Model C
Description Rectangular wood and metal phonograph - missing lid, stand and horn. Base is oak wood. At front is decal in banner shape "Edison Home Phonograph". At right side of object is a crank handle (B) which is removable and a separate metal piece. Same metal piece at left side. On back is black painted piece of metal that extends upward - was used to hold a metal stand to support the horn. On top of phonograph there is a metal base plate painted black with gold accents. On left side under mandrel there is a plaque with patent information and Serial Number " H71904". The mouthpice has "Model C" on underside and on top where the horn attaches is text and a serial number "A11347". The interior parts still function when handle is turned, but the phonograph parts on top do not move.

Notes A: There is no lid, stand, or hood. Overall, surface wear and scratches on both metal and wood components. On front side of piece the decal is scratched and cracked. On left and right sides of object the metal components have minor tarnishing. On back side the metal component is scratched and worn on top close to box. On top side of object there are dust accretions. Wood is scratched and worn along edges. Cracks at upper and lower left corners. Metal components are tarnished small areas of rust. The metal cylinder toward the back of piece is tarnished at left but still shiny at right. On front metal components on top side the gold paint is worn and scratched. On plaque with manufacuter information there is a brown discoloration at upper right corner. B: Handle is tarnished with small spots of rust forming. Wood knob at end has minor wear from use.
