Description Framed poster of a Cream of Wheat advertisement. Reproduction of a print advertisement by James "Les" Wallace. Image has a sign for Cream of Wheat in background and depicts two sets of children downhill racing. One set of children are in nice clothes and have a fancy car the other set are in plain clothing standing on a board attached to a Cream of Wheat crate. Title at bottom "Cream of Wheat Can't Be Beat". Signature at lower right hand corner of poster.

Maker James Leslie Wallace

Maker Details Les Wallace was born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada in 1887 and came to the United States in 1908. He worked for the Denver Post and the Long Beach Press Telegram. He is known for his newspaper illustrations, commerical art adn cartoons.

Notes Overall, frame is worn with scratches and chips in edges. Glass is worn with minor, small scratches on surface. Dust accretions along edges of glass close to frame. Print has minor yellowing around edges. At lower left corner there are small black marks. On back of piece, tape is yellowed and brittle. Paper has streaked discoloration running horizontally on left. Discoloration on right edge.
