Title American Show Print circus poster

Description Large, rectangular color lithograph. Afixed to wood, possible masonite, backing and enclosed in plastic. Eyelet screws at top for hanging. Red painted tape along edges. Screw in bottom at center. Poster is on paper. On top edge there is a cut-out piece of another poster taped on with cellophane tape for "Ringling Bros" with photographic image of the 5 brothers at left. Along bottom of piece are graphics which indicate it was cut from another poster and not original. The poster has large illustration of a circus 'freak show'. Crowds in background. Clown on donkey at left. Man holding pig at center with policeman next to him. Man in top hat at center with a bellydancer, large woman and woman holding snakes. At lower left quadrant is makers mark.

Notes Enclosure is not archival, needs attention. Accretions along edges of both paper poster and plastic from tape. Cellophane tape along other piece of paper is yellowed. Creases horizontally from folding and storage. Tears in paper at center by man holding pig's head. Tear at lower left quadrant by his foot. Edges are yellowed. Overall, paper is wrinkled and creased. Tear at upper edge to right of left corner running vertically. Tears in plastic covering throughout.
