Title Premier Perri-Walla Tea

Description Metal tin originally containing Premier Perri-Walla orange pekoe tea. Tin has cream colored background with gold upper and lower trim and gold fleur de lis design. Central portion of front side has an oval outlined in blue circles. Image in center of oval depicts a man carrying a teapot and cup of tea. Star and logo at top of oval for Premier Food Products. Lid cannot be removed. Container appears to be empty.

Maker Francis H. Leggett & Co.

Maker Details Frances Leggett was born in New York City on March 27, 1840. He received an academic education, and when 16 years old began business as a clerk. Six years later he went into business with an older brother, this partnership continuing until 1870, when Mr. Leggett withdrew from the firm and formed a partnership with his younger brother, Theodore. The firm was known as Francis H. Leggett & Co., one of the largest importing houses in groceries, teas, and coffees in the United States.
