Artist Herb Mott
Artist Details Herbert Morford Mott, Jr. was born in 1923 in Ridgewood, New Jersey. After high school he joined the U.S. Air Force. He was assigned to the graphic art department on the base in Guam and produced training aids. After the war he worked as a freelance artist producing pen and ink illustrations. His art was featured in pulp magazines. He painted 52 covers for Railroad Magazine through the 1940s and 1950s. He currently lives in Arizona.

Notes Print is faded, especially the red coloring. Enclosure is not archival and there are paper pieces under the glass. Dust accretions on the glass. Light surface wear and scratches on glass. Frame is worn. Scratches on surface and edgewear. Areas of loss at lower left edge of frame. On back, frame is very scratched and worn. Back cardstock is stained and discolored. Cracks on right side of frame, follow grain, most likely inherent. Knot at lower right edge. Wire has shartp edges, light rust.
