Title Lilac Toilet Soap

Description It is a pink and purple paper package that contains soap made by Wrisley. In the front center of the package it says Lilac Toilet Soap in white. The words curve in arcs around an image of lilac flowers. The top, bottom, and sides do not have any images or words. The back of the soap package says: "Fine Milled Soap Delicately Perfumed with Springtime Lilac. by Wrisley. Made in the USA."

Maker Allen B. Wrisley Co.

Maker Details Not much could be found on this company. Around the turn of the 20th century it filed a lawsuit against the Iowa Soap Company for using the term "Our Country" on their laundry soap. Wrisley had laundry soap that was named "Old Country." They thought that Iowa Soap Company's name was too close to Wrisley's and was using the trademark. It ruled against Wrisley.

Notes There is edge-wear along the folded seams. The left hand side fold is starting to unfold. There is staining on the front of the package. Also, staining is found on the back. The bottom seems to have wear, some of the color has faded away.
