Title Kodol Liquid

Description Yellow-green cardboard box containing bottle of Kodol Liquid and paper instruction sheet. Manufactured by E.C. DeWitt & Co., Inc., of Chicago, Illinois. Kodol Liquid is a stomach rememdy which aids in improving the appetite. Contains 10% alcohol, calumba, gentian compound, pepsin U.S.P., and glycerine. Bottle is clear glass with a red metal screw cap. Bottle originally contained 9.25 ounces of liquid and sold for $1.00. Some of the contents have been used. Box is lightweight cardboard and is green in color, sides have faded to a yellow-green color but bottom is still original brighter color. Box is printed with ingredients, manufacturer name, and directions for use. Two sides have the following: "Kodol Stomachic Liquid. It aids in improving the appetite. Eat good food, and enough of it, but not more than you require. It is better to eat too little than too much." Bottom of the bottle is marked "7" "9" and "Duraglas" The 7 stood for the Alton, IL plant. The 9 indicates 1939 manufacture

Notes The box is in poor condition, with some tears, fading, and missing areas. Clear tape has been added to the top as repair. The bottle itself is in good condition, the label shows some discoloration and edge wear. The folded insert has some damage and discoloration and is in fair condition.
