Description / Abstract

Physical Description Framed, print illustration from the Saturday Evening Post. Two pages. Image is in color of several people on a wagon. Driver at left side sitting next to child. Behind them are three people, man at center in military garb. Inside cabin is a girl and baby looking out window. On back is man in eye patch with pipe and an older man and woman. At back is boy in red coat blowing a horn at the man. Below illustration is title "The Christmas Coach" By Norman Rockwell. Below is quotation from the "Posthumous Papers of the Pickwick Club". Holly leaves at left and right lower corners. Piece is in wood frame painted gold with paper backing, brown, and wire running across. Dimensions: 14 1/2" H x 21 1/2" W x 1/2" D

Author Details Norman Rockwell was a painter and illustrator in the 20th century. He is most known for his illustrations for The Saturday Evening Post magazine depicting everyday life. He produced over 4,000 original works.

Notes The pages were torn out of the periodical and there is cellophane tape at top and bottom at center to adhered pieces together. Tape is yellowed. Small tears at center edge of each page from being torn out. Brown stain at upper left corner. Paper looks dirty at lower left corner, possible mold. Frame is worn with scrathces. On lower edge at right there is a black painted piece of wood that looks like a patch for a loss of the gold painted wood. On back, mold and liquid damage at lower right corner. White accretions along lower edge. Hole at lower right corner. Edges are dirty and worn.
