Notes The Cristiani Family were equistrians dating back to the mid-19th century in Italy. In 1934, John Ringling North convinced the Cristiani family to move to the United States with their bareback riding act. For 12 weeks they performed with the Ringling Bros. & Barnum & Baily Circus. The family had 10 siblings. In 1949, the parents, children and grandchildren, total of 26 people, formed the Cristiani Bros. Circus. In 1958, it was the 2nd largest circus in North America after Ringling Bros. & Barnum & Baily. In 1960, due to finances the show closed, but the Cristiani Family continued to perform.
