Description Color, print advertisement for Circus Bartok. At top is text on white background "Famous / Circus" Below in yellow rectangle is text "Bartok". Image at lower part is of circus with various acts going on: trapeze, tightrope, lions, plate spinning. At right at front is clown with black hat pointed toward the acts. At lower edge is text "Featuring Escapees From Behind the Iron Curtain". At right corner is text "America's Largest Circus in the Round". Poster is encased in plastic sheeting with black tape around edges. Back is cardboard. Pin holes in each corner and at top and bottom from display.

Notes Plastic sheeting is worn and torn with holes exposing poster. Not original and should be removed. Hole in plastic just above center. Tape on exterior edge is yellowed. Poster has yellowing on left edge about 5" from corner. Holes in corners and at top and bottom edges which appear to go through poster. On back, accretions on cardbaord from tape. Scratches at upper right corner.

Notes Circus Bartok gained the reputation of "Freedom Circus" because it employeed people who "escaped from behind the Iron Curtain". They were stationed in Sarasota, FL in the winter. The circus toured primarily the east coast of the United States.
