Title Dog and Cart pull toy

Description Wood pull toy. At front is cut out image of dog wearing overalls; sticker on wood. Background is blue. At right edge of dog cut out at center there is a hole drilled through. At bottom of dog by "knee" is another hole drilled through. Just above that is a maker's mark. Back side of dog is identical, except at top left edge there is a price sticker. Attached to dog with two metal nails is a red, wood card. Slats of wood across. Attached at each side are two wood wheels. On each side of the wheel there is paper glued on. Paper has graphic of bears with a background of houses.

Maker N.N. Hill Brass Company

Maker Details In 1889, Norman N. Hill started his own bell company. He was the first to stamp steel bells rather than casting. In 1912, the company was incorporated as N. N. Hill Brass Company. It was known as the largest factory in the world devoted to bells and toys. In the 1930s, the company received a contract with Walt Disney to produce wooden toys. The company closed in the 1960s

Notes There are components missing from piece. A string should attach to hole at far right At bottom of dog by knee is missing a small red wheel. The wheel on the left (looking from the back) is loose and will fall off. Overall, edges are worn on wood. Surface scratches throughout. On Dog, sticker worn and cracked. Small areas of loss around edges. On front, black mark just below center At lower edge by 'knee" there is white circle of wear from missing wheel on front and back. The red paint on cart is faded in some areas. Surface scratches. On front at right on car there is a chip in the wood with loss On front wheel there is loss of paper label about 1 1/2". On back of cart at left the lower slat of wood has separated from back piece. At right on back the lower slat is cracked. The cart is unstable and sits crooked.
