Title Wm. Penn matchbox

Description Box of Wm. Penn matches from America's Own Match Co. Box Slip Cover (CMY001338a) is cardboard with red/white/blue imaging/text. Top of box reads "WM. PENN/Matches" with the image of two stars and a house. Front side has match strip and reads "Strong Clean Vol. 16 Cu. In. White Splints/[star] America's Own Match Co. [star]." Back side reads "WM. PENN Matches/Made in U.S.A./Strike Anywhere." Bottom has description of matches, their quality, the material used, etc. Bottom includes slogan "Best By Every Test" and certification stamp from the "Industrial Products Testing and Standardizing Corp." Box insert (CMY001338b) is a rectangular cardboard box with one open side to hold matches. The house used on the cover is an image of William Penn's mansion, built by him in 1682 in Fairmount Park, Philadelphia, Pa. Believed to be the first brick building build in Philadelphia. Moved to a new location in 1883.
