Description Cardboard box with hinged lid. Paper labeling on exterior. On top of lid is company logo text in rectangle "Bayk / Philadelphia / Perfecto / ~ It's ripe Tobacco!" Around edges of box is a red label with Phillies in white text. Left and right sides of box are red with text, "Phillies / 5c". At left of box on lid and front is tax stamp. Text on back side of box. Bottom of box has Factory No. information. Interior side of lid has printing logo at top covered by blue rectangle at bottom with white text.

Notes Overall, box is dirty and stained on both interior and exterior. Edges are very worn and the cardboard is frayed with loss of paper label. The front edge of the lid is worn loss of sticker at center and tax stamp at left edge. Botom of box has deep scratches and is worn with discoloration on paper. Lid of box doesn't fit correctly and is bent inward at left. On back side of box the hinge for the lid is paper and is worn through, very fragile.

Notes Sam, Max, and Meyer Bayuk started the Bayuk Bros. Cigar Co. in 1896 in Philadelphia. The Philadelphia Hand Made Perfecto was introduced in 1910. This cigar became commonly known as "Phillies". In 1920, they became Bayuk Bros., Inc and by 1923 they changed the name to Bayuk Cigars, Inc. Phillies were sold in tin boxes of 50 cigars starting in 1922 until World War II. During the Depression the price was dropped from 10 to 5 and it became the number one brand in the U.S.
