Title Wildroot Hair Product sign

Description Embossed, rectangular metal sign. Background is white with red and blue text, "Barber Shop / Ask For / Wildroot" At right is barber shop pole. At bottom lower left edge text, "W-65 A-M. Sign Co. Lynchburg VA. 9-56". Holes puched out at four corners and two at top edge and one at lower edge center. Back is unfinished, gray.

Assessor BN

Notes Overall, rusting on edges and at hole in corners. Front has light scratches. Dent at top left corner. Dent at lower right edge near corner. Rust along top eddge. Loss of paint on edges. Large scratch at left by "B" in Barber running at a diagonal. Holes at the four corners do not appear to be original and are rusted around the edges. On back, rust and dirt over entire surface. Light scratches. White accretion at top left corner.

Notes In 1911, Wildroot Hair Tonic debuted. The Wildroot Company was located in Buffalo, NY. In 1932, the product was trademarked. By 1959, Colgate-Palmolive purchased the company.
