Maker Quaker Oats Company

Maker Details The Mother's brand was originally introduced as Mother's Oats in 1893 by the Great Western Cereal Company. The original canisters featured an image of a mother holding a baby, symbolizing a mother's love for her child. Mother's Oats was purchased by The Quaker Oats Company in 1911. The company changed their label frequently from the early 1900s to the 1950s, but still kept a common theme of a mother and son.

Summary Fair

Assessor Cassie Coffey

Notes The container sans lid is in fair condition with some wear and scratching on the label. However, the text and illustrations are relatively vibrant and easy to read. The concern for this object is the lid. Several layers of tape are around the top of the container and a plastic/cardboard lid seems to be attached. The plastic lid does not appear to match the time period as most containers were fully cardboard.
