Notes The McAvoy Brewing Company ran from about 1887 to 1920, and it was one of the larger breweries in Chicago. In 1865, John H. McAvoy and Henry V. Bemis founded McAvoy & Bemis Brewing in Chicago, IL. Bemis retired in 1884, and the brewery became the McAvoy Brewing Company. In 1889, Chicago Breweries, LTD purchased the brewery, but they continued to brew under their name. Two named products were Malt Morrow and a beer, Alma Mater. The notation of "Not" made in Germany, assumes that this was produced during World War I. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McAvoy_Brewing_Company http://weblog.lonelylion.com/2011/09/20/mcavoy-brewing-company/ http://home.comcast.net/~beerlabel/chic5_files/Page545.htm
