Title Royal Crown Cola Thermometer sign

Description Metal advertising sign. Red background with large yellow arrow painted around thermometer with increments. At top text, "Drink / Royal Crown / Cola". At bottom, "Best by Taste-Test". Holes punched out at top and bottom edge at center for hanging. Back is unfinished with piece of wood around thermometer. Thermometer is glass.

Notes Light scratches on front and back. Small areas of loss/chipping of paint. Rust at lower edge with loss of painted enamel over 3" long. At right edge near center there is loss of enamel. At top edge there is a deep scratching running vertically 8". Dent on edge at upper left side. Small dent at right just above center on edge. At lower right near edge there is a vertical white mark. Near lower left corner there is a horizontal scratch. Screw around thermometer have some rust. On back metal is rusted all over. There are scratches throughout, two larger horizontal scratches just above top of wood. At lower edge near hole there is a white mark. The wood has some wear it is dirty with worn edge. Thermometer glass appears to be in good condition, some scratches.

Notes Claud A. Hatcher developed Royal Crown Cola in 1905 in Columbus, Georgia. He was motivated by a dispute with Coca-Cola who refused to reduce the price for the syrup for large volumes. The first product was ginger ale in 1905.
