Description Wood box with lid for Knickerbocker Chocolate Co. penny sticks. Lid slides on. Corners of bottom are dovetailed. Embossed stamps in black on all for sides. On two sides, "100 ' 16 to 1' Penny Sticsk Manufactured by Knickerbocker Chocolate Company New York". On one side is the company logo. On one side, "Serial Number 2121 Guaranteed Under the Food and Drugs Act. June 30, 1908". Nails on bottom.

Notes The lid does not fit properly due to loss of wood. A- Lid has a crack horizontally which has been glued back together. Crack went through woodwork, and glue is holding two pieces together. On lower edge to right of center are finger prints. At top right edge there is loss. Edges are worn. On back of lid there is glue from the crack. B- At left near edge at center there is a dentation in the wood. In bottom of containter, dead insect found. No evidence of damage from insect. Edges are worn. Light scratches and dentations in wood on exterior and interior of box. On left side (with serial #) there appears to be loss at top edge. White paint splatter on side. On back side there is loss at top edge and the ridge to slide on lid is missing. On right side (by logo) there is white paint at right. Dentation at top edge. On bottom there is some discoloration.
