Title Julia Marlowe shoebox

Description Cardboard box originally containing a pair of Rich's Famous Julia Marlowe shoes. Box base (1071a) is white in color and has a label pasted on one end which reads "Rich's Famous Julia Marlowe Shoes, 3713 Lotus CE, Welt, Butt.Bt 470" Written in pencil are "706," "3493," 3NK/350." Box lid has large white label with black print. Has an image of renowned Broadway actress Julia Marlowe and six different shoe styles. Reads "Rich's Famous Julia Marlowe Shoes with or without elastic instep. None genuine unless stampled "Julia Marlowe" on every sole." Label was printed by the Milwaukee Litho Co,

Maker A.W. Rich Shoes

Maker Details Aldoph Rich (born Adolphus Reich} arrived in Milwaukee in 1865 and made and sold womans goods, especially hoopskirts. He continued his business, specializing in the production of women's shoes under the company name A. W. Rich. He died in 1917.
