Description Porcelain sign with white text. Graphic of dog in circle at left. Text, "Member of / The Jewelers' / Security Alliance / For Protection Against Burglary Sneak Theft Holdup / Pinkerton's Nat. Dectective Agency / Detective Agents for the Alliance". Back is blade. Holes in each corner with grommets.

Notes There is loss of porcelain enamel layer on all edges. Exposed metal is rusted. Grommets are rusted. Some light scratches on porcelain. On back, enamel is worn in small spots with rusting metal exposed. Wear and discoloration of porcelain on back. White spotting in enamel. At right below center there is something afixed to back, looks like rusted metal.

Notes The Jewelers' Security Alliance was founded in 1883 and is still present today. It is based out of New York, NY. The organization aids jewelers by offering rewards, and educating on security. Each JSA member received one of these signs, and later they switched to stickers, but now they do not distribute anything. The Pinkerton National Dectective Agency, founded in Chicago in 1850,was contracted by JSA to investigate crimes. The two organizations work together until the 1980s. ( (
