Physical Description Cardboard advertisement for International Tailoring Company of New York & Chicago. White paper with light green border. At top center two holes with red yarn threaded through for hanging. Graphic at left is of woman in a white dress holding a garment with the ITC logo. Graphic at right is the logo of the ITC. Narrow red arrow from left graphic to right graphic. Text at center reads " Get One On / Your Coat". Text at bottom center reads "Quality is certified by this lable with your own Monogram in colors". On back of sign large writing in marker "Use Up Stairs" Measurements: 7 7/16" H x 21 15/16" W

Notes Paper is stained throughout and dirty. Possible mold. At front lower left corner there is a water stain. Pin holes at top corners and at bottom center. At top left corner paper is creased and top layers of cardboard are torn. At right edge center there is a tear about 1.25" into advertisement. At bottom right corner there are pieces of cellophane tape attached on front and back of sign. Edges are frayed with small tears.

Notes Jacob Reiss and his wife Mary started the International Tailoring Company in 1896. It operated in New York City and Chicago. Reiss was born in Wisconsin in 1874 and lived in Sheboygan; he moved to Chicago in 1890. In 1902, Reiss and his family moved to New York City and expanded the company.
