Title Franco Christmas Lights

Description Franco brand lights and cardboard box labeled Franco Yere-Round Lighting Outfit, with Christmas lights lining the outside of the box. Box is primarily red on the front with little pictures. One side of box is marked "Franco Yere-Round Decorative Lighting Outfit, No. 3311 8 Lights Mazda Lamps 15V" which red imprint of person decorating a tree. Cardboard box is two pieces (lid is a, base is b) and base is plain, unprinted cardboard. Light strand (c) is green cloth wrapped wire with eight sockets. There are six bulbs (2 sockets are missing bulbs) which are blue (d), white (e), two yellow (f & g), green, (h) and red (i). Bulbs are removable and fit into green socket which is attached to longer strand with two smaller green cloth wrapped wires. One end of cord has cup which screws onto another strand of light. The other end has knob which screws into another strand. These ends allow this strand to be connected to another to make a longer light string. Neither end has an electrical plug.

Dimension Details measurements above are of the box. Light strand measures approximately 149 inches in length. Blubs are 2 inches in length, sockets are 3/4 inches. Cord from strand to socket is 2.5 inches in length.

Maker Franco Electric Co.

Maker Details Company began as the Franco-American Electric Company. Merged with Alfred Wolfe and Company in 1912 to become the Interstate Electric Novelty Company. They made and distributed many forms of decorative lighting, including regular and figural Christmas lamps. In 1920, the Company changed their name to The Franco Electric Company and sold the Yere-Round line of decorative lights. In 1923 their name was changed to Yale Electric, then in 1925 to Premo Electric. By 1926, the company was a part of NOMA, which was made up of 15 different lighting companies and was the largest manufacturer of Christmas lights in the world.

Notes The box has edge wear and staining. One side of box lid is ripped, forming a flap. Labelled end of box has pencil marking, looks like a price 3.50 Light strand is in good condition. Some bulbs are worn, white and yellow bulbs appear to be missing some of their painted color. Two sockets are missing bulbs completely.
